And there we go, there we go again

Switcher’s cooperation with mobile gantries will be the axis of five episodes of the second series of “Nietypowe transporty” produced by Discovery Channel Polska. Their broadcast on the station will start today (28 May).

This is yet another performance of the “Switcher’s team” on a small screen, in such a large time dimension. It made its debut in autumn last year, also on-air owned by Discovery Communications. This time the plot was based on the transport and unloading of turnout blocks Rz 60E1-500-1:12. The action took place with the use of specialist wagons for transporting turnout blocks – Switcher, designed, manufactured and belonging to the KZN Bieżanów Group; and mobile gantries by Geismar company. Factory assembled turnouts were used to build a stagger in Majdan Królewski (railway line no. 71), built by the Kraków-based PNUIK. The Switcher set was pulled to the construction site by the popular “Tamara” (TEM2 diesel locomotive) belonging to Omniloko.

– The highest benefit of participation in such a production? Building a brand of the Polish railway industry and its employees. Together with partners participating in the project we show that the railway can be modern, and local companies operating in this market segment can already create globally attractive technologies and have young, qualified and dynamic staff. What is very pleasing is that it is carried out in cooperation with a cross-border media corporation, which makes it an effective promotional tool,” stresses Remigiusz Tytuła, spokesman for KZN Bieżanów Group. “Together with Discovery we break the stereotypes and show the average Kowalski the railroad from the kitchen, highlighting how much our industry is changing, how it breaks out of the stereotypical “can’t be done,” adds Tytuła.

– Discovery Channel is a channel that encourages viewers to constantly broaden their horizons, which is why in our programmes we often take the audience to places that are inaccessible to them on a daily basis. The same will be the case with this series of “Nietypowe transporty”, where we will show, among other things, the backstage of railway operations. Using them every day, as passengers, from stations, platforms and trains, we do not realize how difficult, responsible and complicated work is done by a number of people and machines employed in this industry. Our attention was drawn to Switcher, which safely transports multi-tone turnout structures needed to create new railway lines and faster and more reliable connections – says Przemysław Kwiatkowski, Director of Factual TVN Discovery Polska’s Thematic Channels Department.

As many as five consecutive episodes of “Nietypowe transporty” with the participation of KZN Bieżanów show not only how railways are built and operated on a daily basis, but also how much of a demanding and promising business it is. The protagonists of the programme must demonstrate technical knowledge, creativity and, above all, resilience to challenges that are not lacking during transport and on the construction site.

Broadcast of “Nietypowe transporty”: The first episode involving Switcher, Tuesday, 28.05. 21:00. Reruns: Sundays 11:00, 6:00, Tuesdays 6:00. Premieres of the following episodes on Tuesdays 04.06, 11.06, 18.06 and 25.06
